ISM MARINE BIOLOGIST

Born in Milan in 1979.
Diver since 1996, diving instructor since 2000, he is a member of the ’Istituto per gli Studi sul Mare’ and ‘Verdeacqua’ since 2005; he has always been deeply linked to the sea.
Passion and skills come together in his science writer and communicator work: Emilio is the link between the marine scientific research world and the people (snorkelers, divers, adults, kids, and whoever is curious about the sea and its wonders). All of this is done through marine biology courses, conferences, events and citizen’s science projects both in the Mediterranean and tropical seas.
The goal is clear: involving as many people as possible to let them discover that the sea is “much more than what they think” and then trigger those virtuous circles related to knowledge, awareness and active participation in living a sustainable relationship with the sea.
Since 2007, he is member of the Technical-Scientific Committee of AIGAE (Associazione Italiana Guide Ambientali Escursionistiche), in order to make sure that this professional figure can increase his presence in the sustainable eco-tourism linked to Mediterranean Sea and tropical oceans.
Passionate about photography and travel. In his words:
‘Did you happen to feel like… incomplete? Everything is fine, but something is missing; at some point, when you are underwater, you realize that you don’t feel anymore that incompleteness; you realize that you found what you were missing. Here’s what means, to me, living the sea”.
